Dining with Diabetes helps by teaching persons with diabetes ways to reduce sugar, salt, and fat in foods, without giving up good taste. People with diabetes and their family members, caregivers, and support persons can enroll in Dining with Diabetes. Anyone, with or without diabetes, can attend. This program is designed to complement, not replace, diabetes management classes. A one-time $50 fee per person includes all class materials and tasting sessions. Some vouchers are accepted (see brochure for details).

The American Lung Association in Delaware, in partnership with the Delaware Division of Public Health (DPH) Physical Activity, Nutrition, and Obesity Prevention Program (PANO), invites community organizations to apply for mini grants that support healthier communities. These grants aim to improve health and reduce chronic disease through policy, systems, and environmental changes aligned with the AHL Initiative.&nbsp;

What is GEM? <o:p></o:p>
Get Experience in Mindfulness is a two time nationally award-winning interactive group-based stress management curriculum created by 4-H and health and well-being professionals from the University of Delaware Cooperative Extension. This contemporary research-based program focuses on stress management and emotional resiliency, taught through practical and interactive mindfulness-based activities to facilitate experiential learning. Participants of the program will learn what mindfulness is and how to integrate it into daily life, strength and flexibility poses, breathing techniques and other relaxation skills. <o:p></o:p>
GEM consists of (5) one-hour long lessons (see series below). The program can also be taught as a single one-hour lesson that reviews an introduction to mindfulness. The program is suggested for ages 10 and older, although consultations are available to utilize the curriculum with audiences as young as first grade. <o:p></o:p>

Who is this workshop for? <o:p></o:p>
This workshop is for people who wish to be trained to deliver the GEM curriculum for the first time, as well as a refresher for current GEM Trainers. <o:p></o:p>
Note: If you have taken the GEM train the trainer in the past, please bring your instructor materials with you to the workshop.<o:p></o:p>
What happens once I am trained? <o:p></o:p>
Once trained in GEM, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to build and sustain a mindfulness culture in your community and organization.
